Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)

1 cup Swiss cheese, grated

1 cup mushrooms, sliced (preferably cremini or shiitake)

1 small onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon olive oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup cooked quinoa or brown rice

2 cups fresh spinach (baby spinach works nicely)

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Quinoa or Brown Rice: Start by preparing the quinoa or brown rice according to the package instructions. This grain will serve as a hearty base for your burger bowl.

Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet, pour in the olive oil and heat it over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté the mixture for about 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions turn translucent and the mushrooms develop a golden brown color. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute, ensuring the garlic becomes fragrant.

Cook the Ground Beef: Next, push the sautéed vegetables to the side of the skillet to create space. Introduce the ground beef to the other side. Use a spatula to break the meat apart and cook it until browned, roughly 6-8 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure it's evenly cooked.

Incorporate Flavoring: Once the beef is no longer pink, carefully drain any excess fat if needed. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything together so the flavors meld.

Make the Creamy Sauce: Lower the heat to a gentle simmer. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring consistently until well combined. Let the mixture simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened. Then, mix in the Dijon mustard and half of the grated Swiss cheese, stirring until everything is melted and creamy.

Add Spinach: Just before serving, fold the fresh spinach into the skillet. Stir for about 1-2 minutes until the spinach is wilted but still vibrant.

Assemble the Bowls: Prepare 4 serving bowls and place a generous scoop of the cooked quinoa or brown rice in each one. Top off with a hearty helping of the creamy mushroom and beef mixture.

Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle the remaining Swiss cheese over the top of each bowl and finish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for a burst of color. Serve hot and enjoy every bite of your Savory Mushroom & Swiss Burger Bowl!
