Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

3 large eggs

1 cup buttermilk

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

½ cup strawberry puree (fresh or frozen, fully thawed)

½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup heavy whipping cream

2 tbsp powdered sugar

Fresh strawberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9-inch round cake pan by greasing it with butter or non-stick cooking spray, and place a circle of parchment paper at the bottom to ensure easy removal after baking.

Make the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and granulated sugar. Use an electric mixer to beat them together on medium-high speed for about 3-4 minutes until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Incorporate Eggs & Vanilla: Add the eggs to the bowl one at a time, ensuring each egg is well incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully blended.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Alternate adding this dry mixture and the buttermilk to the wet ingredients, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix gently until just combined, ensuring not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine.

Create Marble Effect: Carefully fold the strawberry puree into one portion of the batter, aiming for a marbled look. In the other portion, add the chocolate chips and mix until evenly spread throughout the batter.

Layer in the Pan: Begin by pouring half of the chocolate batter into the prepared pan and smoothing it into an even layer. Next, dollop the strawberry-marble batter over this layer and follow with the remaining chocolate batter. Use a toothpick or a knife to gently swirl the layers together, creating a beautiful marbled design.

Bake the Cake: Place the assembled cake in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes. To check for doneness, insert a toothpick in the center of the cake; it should come out clean when the cake is fully baked.

Cool the Cake: Once baked, allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Carefully transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Whipped Cream: While the cake is cooling, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar together in a mixing bowl using an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.

Serve: Once the cake has cooled completely, generously top it with the freshly whipped cream. For a finishing touch, garnish with fresh strawberries before slicing and serving.

                      Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes | Servings: 10

Presentation Tips: To enhance the visual appeal, serve individual slices with a dollop of whipped cream and a fresh strawberry on top. Consider dusting the plate with cocoa powder for an elegant finish. Enjoy!
