Ingredients

For the Orange Chicken:

1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

1 cup cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1/2 cup orange juice (preferably freshly squeezed)

Zest of 1 orange

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup honey

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for added heat)

Salt and pepper to taste

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

For the Broccoli Rice:

2 cups broccoli florets

1 cup cooked jasmine rice

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon soy sauce

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

    - In a mixing bowl, season the chicken pieces generously with salt and pepper. Sprinkle the cornstarch over the chicken and toss until each piece is thoroughly coated. Shake off excess cornstarch and set the chicken aside.

      Cook the Chicken:

        - Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken pieces in a single layer. Cook for approximately 5-7 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and crispy. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

          Make the Sauce:

            - In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium. If needed, add a drizzle more oil. Sauté the minced garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant and lightly golden.

              - Pour in the orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let the sauce cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

                Combine Chicken and Sauce:

                  - Return the crispy chicken to the skillet, tossing it in the sauce to coat evenly. Continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the chicken to soak up the delicious flavors of the sauce.

                    Prepare the Broccoli Rice:

                      - Use a food processor to pulse the broccoli florets until they resemble tiny rice grains. Avoid over-processing to maintain some texture.

                        - In a separate frying pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the broccoli rice and sauté for approximately 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Season with salt, pepper, and soy sauce, mixing well.

                          Serve:

                            - To assemble your bowls, start with a generous layer of broccoli rice. Top it with the sticky orange chicken, ensuring a nice drizzle of sauce over the chicken. Garnish each bowl with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for added crunch and flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy!
